At the begin\u00adning of Octo\u00adber, a del\u00ade\u00adga\u00adtion from Busi\u00adnes\u00adsOulu vis\u00adit\u00aded Mo Indus\u00adtri\u00adpark to explore the indus\u00adtri\u00adal envi\u00adron\u00adment in Rana and assess col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties between Finnish and Nor\u00adwe\u00adgian indus\u00adtries. The vis\u00adit was part of a joint Nordic ini\u00adtia\u00adtive aimed at strength\u00aden\u00ading ties between indus\u00adtri\u00adal sec\u00adtors. The day\u2019s pro\u00adgram includ\u00aded pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtions, com\u00adpa\u00adny meet\u00adings, and a guid\u00aded tour of the indus\u00adtri\u00adal park.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to build long-term rela\u00adtion\u00adships between Mo Indus\u00adtri\u00adpark and Oulu\u2019s busi\u00adness com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty. If some com\u00adpa\u00adnies already find part\u00adners now, that\u2019s great, but our goal is last\u00ading coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion,\u201d said Hei\u00adni Malm from Busi\u00adnes\u00adsOulu. \u201cIt\u2019s inspir\u00ading to see how Mo Indus\u00adtri\u00adpark pro\u00admotes green indus\u00adtry and cross-sec\u00adtor col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion. Busi\u00adnes\u00adsOulu rep\u00adre\u00adsents the city\u2019s busi\u00adness sec\u00adtor and works to strength\u00aden inno\u00adva\u00adtion, invest\u00adment, and inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal con\u00adnec\u00adtions for com\u00adpa\u00adnies in North\u00adern Fin\u00adland. This time, the del\u00ade\u00adga\u00adtion includ\u00aded sev\u00ader\u00adal indus\u00adtri\u00adal com\u00adpa\u00adnies from the Oulu region: Swe\u00adco, Mesens, Fim\u00adpec, Fil\u00adtra\u00adbit, and Arc\u00adtic Con\u00adstruc\u00adtion Clus\u00adter, as well as the Indus\u00adtri\u00adal Engi\u00adneer\u00ading and Man\u00adage\u00adment unit from the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Oulu\u2019s Fac\u00adul\u00adty of Tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy. These rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives came to meet local stake\u00adhold\u00aders in Mo i Rana.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cMo Indus\u00adtri\u00adpark rep\u00adre\u00adsents the best of North\u00adern Nor\u00adway. We\u2019ve been plan\u00adning a vis\u00adit here for a long time, but only now did we get the right con\u00adtacts. This is our first orga\u00adnized trip here, and the recep\u00adtion has been over\u00adwhelm\u00ading\u00adly pos\u00adi\u00adtive,\u201d said Juk\u00adka Olli from Busi\u00adnes\u00adsOulu.
May\u00ador of Mo i Rana, Geir Waage, wel\u00adcomed the del\u00ade\u00adga\u00adtion and pre\u00adsent\u00aded the city as an indus\u00adtri\u00adal hub with a strate\u00adgic loca\u00adtion, a deep-water port, and a new air\u00adport under con\u00adstruc\u00adtion. He also high\u00adlight\u00aded the geopo\u00adlit\u00adi\u00adcal sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion in the North and how a strength\u00adened east\u2013west corridor\u2014especially the rail\u00adway con\u00adnec\u00adtion between Mo i Rana and Storuman\u2014could be cru\u00adcial if Fin\u00adland were to face a block\u00adade in the Baltic Sea.

The Finnish guests also heard from sev\u00ader\u00adal indus\u00adtri\u00adal com\u00adpa\u00adny rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives at the park. CEO Bj\u00f8rn Ugedal spoke about Mo Indus\u00adtri\u00adpark as a grow\u00ading green indus\u00adtri\u00adal clus\u00adter and its role in pro\u00admot\u00ading for\u00adward-look\u00ading, sus\u00adtain\u00adable indus\u00adtry. Elkem\u2019s plant man\u00adag\u00ader Frode J. Berg described the company\u2019s efforts toward cli\u00admate neu\u00adtral\u00adi\u00adty, while Ferroglobe\u2019s CEO Knut Gulle\u00adsen dis\u00adcussed their pro\u00adduc\u00adtion.

SMA Mineral\u2019s con\u00adsul\u00adtant Jan Gabor shared the lat\u00adest updates on a planned zero-emis\u00adsion lime plant in Mo i Rana, with con\u00adstruc\u00adtion sched\u00aduled to begin in April 2026 and oper\u00ada\u00adtions expect\u00aded to start in August 2027. He also not\u00aded that a poten\u00adtial sec\u00adond phase depends on the capac\u00adi\u00adty of the elec\u00adtri\u00adcal grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roger Skat\u00adland, CEO of Momek Group, explained how aqua\u00adcul\u00adture has become the company\u2019s largest mar\u00adket for the first time. He empha\u00adsized that the com\u00adpa\u00adny invests in people\u2014not just equip\u00adment. \u201cPeo\u00adple are our most impor\u00adtant resource,\u201d Skat\u00adland said. Kjetil Brose from 7 Steel spoke about the company\u2019s growth and how Mo i Rana\u2019s strate\u00adgic loca\u00adtion offers \u201cexcel\u00adlent logis\u00adtics\u201d and access to key mar\u00adkets both north and south.

The pre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtions cul\u00admi\u00adnat\u00aded in B2B meet\u00adings between Oulu-based com\u00adpa\u00adnies and rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives of Mo i Rana\u2019s indus\u00adtri\u00adal sec\u00adtor. Par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpa\u00adtion was active, and dis\u00adcus\u00adsions were live\u00adly.
After the meet\u00adings, the del\u00ade\u00adga\u00adtion took a guid\u00aded bus tour through the indus\u00adtri\u00adal park, stop\u00adping in front of Rana Gru\u00adber and con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00ading to explore the new deep-water port. Along the way, they were shown how the park is evolv\u00ading and how col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion between dif\u00adfer\u00adent actors is build\u00ading a strong indus\u00adtri\u00adal ecosys\u00adtem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This vis\u00adit is a great exam\u00adple of cross-bor\u00adder col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion in the North\u2014cooperation that cre\u00adates busi\u00adness oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties, strate\u00adgic con\u00adnec\u00adtions, and tan\u00adgi\u00adble val\u00adue for north\u00adern stake\u00adhold\u00aders, as well as for the part\u00adner\u00adship between Busi\u00adnes\u00adsOulu and the Ener\u00adgi i Nord clus\u00adter.
