Do you have ideas on how Oulu can achieve a fair and just green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion? Come have your say and apply to be a pan\u00adelist in the Oulu Pan\u00adel by Decem\u00adber 7! The views col\u00adlect\u00aded in the Oulu Pan\u00adel will be tak\u00aden into account in plan\u00adning the green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion.

The green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion is a shift toward a sus\u00adtain\u00adable econ\u00ado\u00admy that empha\u00adsizes low car\u00adbon emis\u00adsions, cir\u00adcu\u00adlar econ\u00ado\u00admy, bio\u00addi\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty, and replac\u00ading fos\u00adsil fuels with clean ener\u00adgy.

Cur\u00adrent\u00adly, the green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion in Oulu is par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly vis\u00adi\u00adble in planned invest\u00adments in the hydro\u00adgen econ\u00ado\u00admy. The goal of Oulu\u2019s city strat\u00ade\u00adgy is to achieve car\u00adbon neu\u00adtral\u00adi\u00adty by 2035. This includes devel\u00adop\u00ading indus\u00adtri\u00adal areas for the green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion. The City of Oulu is invest\u00ading in the green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion through major indus\u00adtri\u00adal projects being pre\u00adpared by var\u00adi\u00adous actors in areas such as Oritkari, Laani\u00adla, and Pyyryv\u00e4i\u00adnen. For exam\u00adple, zon\u00ading in the Oritkari area is being updat\u00aded to enable the con\u00adstruc\u00adtion of indus\u00adtri\u00adal plots and nec\u00ades\u00adsary infra\u00adstruc\u00adture for green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion projects.

In the Oulu Pan\u00adel, we ask res\u00adi\u00addents for their views to ensure the best pos\u00adsi\u00adble out\u00adcome for indus\u00adtri\u00adal activ\u00adi\u00adty, res\u00adi\u00addents, and nature.

Apply to be a pan\u00adelist in the Oulu Pan\u00adel pub\u00adlic event at the Cen\u00adtral Library Saari on Jan\u00adu\u00adary 16, 2026, using the online form. The form asks, for exam\u00adple, which green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion themes are impor\u00adtant to you and what issues you would like to pro\u00admote in Oulu. We are look\u00ading for ordi\u00adnary Oulu res\u00adi\u00addents to join the dis\u00adcus\u00adsion \u2013 you don\u2019t need pri\u00ador knowl\u00adedge of the top\u00adic. Pan\u00adelists will receive the dis\u00adcus\u00adsion ques\u00adtions in advance. Select\u00aded pan\u00adelists will be noti\u00adfied per\u00adson\u00adal\u00adly and com\u00admit to attend\u00ading the event in per\u00adson. The Oulu Pan\u00adel will also be streamed online.
