Accord\u00ading to the Euro\u00adpean Com\u00admis\u00adsion\u2019s deci\u00adsion, the Cloud\u00adber\u00adry project, which is part of the Vetyalfa\u2019s Uta\u00adj\u00e4rvi com\u00adplex, is to receive \u20ac 224 mil\u00adlion in invest\u00adment sup\u00adport. The Com\u00admis\u00adsion pub\u00adlished the results of the auc\u00adtion on 7 May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The select\u00aded projects will receive a total of approx\u00adi\u00admate\u00adly \u20ac 1.09 bil\u00adlion in EU fund\u00ading, of which the Finnish project would account for approx\u00adi\u00admate\u00adly \u20ac 224 mil\u00adlion. This is the largest sup\u00adport ever grant\u00aded to Fin\u00adland from the EU Inno\u00adva\u00adtion Fund. The final amount will be spec\u00adi\u00adfied when the approved projects sign a grant agree\u00adment with the Euro\u00adpean Agency for Cli\u00admate, Infra\u00adstruc\u00adture and Envi\u00adron\u00adment CINEA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Uta\u00adj\u00e4rvi refin\u00adery would be based on Fin\u00adland\u2019s strengths and local resources: renew\u00adable ener\u00adgy, a strong and con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous\u00adly devel\u00adop\u00ading elec\u00adtric\u00adi\u00adty grid and the sep\u00ada\u00adra\u00adtion of hydro\u00adgen from water. The max\u00adi\u00admum capac\u00adi\u00adty of the elec\u00adtrolyz\u00ader would be 1000 MW, but the project could also be built in stages. Vetyal\u00adfa Oy has oth\u00ader hydro\u00adgen projects in the plan\u00adning phase in Vaala, Kemi\u00adj\u00e4rvi and Rovanie\u00admi, which are also being ful\u00adly imple\u00adment\u00aded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vetyal\u00adfa aims to pro\u00adduce a max\u00adi\u00admum of 180,000 tonnes of hydro\u00adgen per year at Uta\u00adj\u00e4rvi. The com\u00adpa\u00adny\u2019s plans include enabling the fur\u00adther pro\u00adcess\u00ading of hydro\u00adgen along the val\u00adue chain up to the pro\u00adduc\u00adtion of syn\u00adthet\u00adic fuels. At the same time, the val\u00adue chain will be ensured to remain in Fin\u00adland as com\u00adpre\u00adhen\u00adsive\u00adly as pos\u00adsi\u00adble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At its broad\u00adest, it is the largest hydro\u00adgen econ\u00ado\u00admy project in Fin\u00adland. Depend\u00ading on its max\u00adi\u00admum capac\u00adi\u00adty and fur\u00adther pro\u00adcess\u00ading, the invest\u00adment would be worth bil\u00adlions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
