Local research and busi\u00adness coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion pro\u00adduced the long-await\u00aded hydro\u00adgen tank pro\u00adto\u00adtype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Oulu received a long-await\u00aded hydro\u00adgen tank man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtured by Nordic Tank, intend\u00aded for use in steel research among oth\u00ader appli\u00adca\u00adtions. As part of the OYH2 project, the selec\u00adtion of mate\u00adri\u00adals for the tank required spe\u00adcial pre\u00adci\u00adsion due to hydro\u00adgen atoms\u2019 ten\u00adden\u00adcy to pen\u00ade\u00adtrate steel and cause cracks. The deliv\u00adered tank, about one cubic meter in size, is made of stain\u00adless steel that with\u00adstands hydro\u00adgen in all con\u00addi\u00adtions, accord\u00ading to uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty teacher Jus\u00adsi Paavola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tank is designed for use in stor\u00ading hydro\u00adgen to facil\u00adi\u00adtate future research on hydro\u00adgen absorp\u00adtion in oth\u00ader met\u00adals. It is also portable, meet\u00ading safe\u00adty reg\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtions for trans\u00adport\u00ading haz\u00adardous mate\u00adri\u00adals. The com\u00adpact tank is designed with larg\u00ader appli\u00adca\u00adtions in mind, and there are plans to pro\u00adduce larg\u00ader tanks based on cur\u00adrent designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hydro\u00adgen-relat\u00aded research is a key area for the uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty, and the new tank is part of the hydro\u00adgen research infra\u00adstruc\u00adture being built at the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Oulu. This infra\u00adstruc\u00adture sup\u00adports region\u00adal and nation\u00adal research and devel\u00adop\u00adment in the hydro\u00adgen econ\u00ado\u00admy, strength\u00aden\u00ading the green tran\u00adsi\u00adtion and the shift to a hydro\u00adgen econ\u00ado\u00admy. The broad\u00ader goal is to build a research envi\u00adron\u00adment that serves both the university\u2019s hydro\u00adgen research and busi\u00adness\u00ades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
