Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs recei­ved the Euro­pean Com­mis­sion’s Tech­no­lo­gy Cent­re recog­ni­tion

Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs, coor­di­na­ted by Oulu Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Sciences (Oamk), has recei­ved recog­ni­tion from the Euro­pean Com­mis­sion. Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs (ADL) is the first tech­no­lo­gy cent­re run by a Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Sciences to pass the Com­mis­sion’s strict cri­te­ria for the Advanced Tech­no­lo­gy Cent­res for Industries. Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs pro­vi­des industry and SMEs with access to advanced tech­no­lo­gies through col­la­bo­ra­ti­ve pro­jects.

Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs (ADL) has more than 40 Fin­nish com­pa­nies or research ins­ti­tu­tes that cover a wide ran­ge of tech­no­lo­gies used in dro­nes, such as prin­ted intel­li­gence, 5G / 6G networks, sen­sor tech­no­lo­gies and ima­ge proces­sing. Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs also has sig­ni­ficant fleet of dro­nes for tes­ting and pro­duct deve­lop­ment. Ser­vices focus on labo­ra­to­ry tes­ting, pro­to­ty­pe deve­lop­ment, and pro­duct concept demon­stra­tions. In addi­tion to the equip­ment, Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs has test areas in various parts of Fin­land. Tes­ting is also sup­por­ted by a sig­ni­ficant num­ber of dro­ne pilots.

The Euro­pean Com­mis­sion has iden­ti­fied tech­no­lo­gy cent­res that pro­vi­de deci­sion-makers, industry, and aca­de­mia with access to advanced tech­no­lo­gies and exper­ti­se. Tech­no­lo­gy hubs enable and help industry mana­ge the tran­si­tion to a low-car­bon and know­led­ge-based eco­no­my. The­re are just over 300 tech­no­lo­gy cent­res in the EU, coor­di­na­ted by top uni­ver­si­ties and natio­nal research ins­ti­tu­tes, 14 of which are in Fin­land.

In 2018, the Euro­pean Com­mis­sion gran­ted Arc­tic Dro­ne Labs the sta­tus of a digi­tal inno­va­tion hub.
