Oulu is a hidden gem

Oulu is the fastest growing city region in Arctic Europe with 250,000 inhabitants. We are also among the youngest in Europe, as our average age is just 38 years. Every third person has an academic degree and we have been found to be the happiest in the North, when it comes to our quality of life.

You are practically in nature right out of the gate of your home.

A modern seaside city culture is combined with a lively countryside and beautiful nature.

Did you know that Oulu is one of the best cycling cities in Finland?

The region has more than 1000 kilometres of cycleways purposely built for getting around conveniently.

Oulu is also the 12-minute city of innovation.

You can get pretty much anywhere in Oulu in 12 minutes. Oulu has the easy-going atmosphere of a small town with the services of a large city.

Oulu is the European Capital of Culture in 2026!

During the Capital of Culture year in 2026 the region will have plenty of jobs in the creative industries, culturally interesting new places to visit, and neighbourhoods flourishing with culture.

Welcome to Oulu!
