The sixth EHEC (European Hydrogen Energy Conference) was held in Seville, Spain, from 11th to 13th March 2026. The congress offers networking and a meeting place for various companies in science and technology. EHEC is one of the largest hydrogen events in Europe.
A joint stand organized by BusinessOulu was found on site, where three Finnish companies with strong connections to Oulu, were represented in addition to CleantechOulu. The stand highlighted the diversity of expertise and the region’s role in advancing clean technology and industrial solutions. Pinja which maintains significant operations in Oulu, offers software and cloud-based solutions for industrial use, which can be used to monitor, for example, the implementation of environmental goals. Spin-off start-up company from the University of Oulu and currently Kerava-based hydrogen company Zun‑H produces emission-free hydrogen using solar panels, the panels can be utilized on various scales, for example, up to industry. The third participant, Jensen Hughes, offers fire protection consulting, the company’s expertise also extends to hydrogen and nuclear power services and has established operations in Oulu.
The now more international conference, which brought together a couple of thousand visitors, offered an in-depth, science-focused program related to hydrogen and numerous expert discussions. Key Account Director Janne Hietaniemi also participated in the international roundtable discussion. Janne mentions the transformation of numerous hydrogen pilots into large demos as the best contribution, as well as news about large investment decisions from the Spanish company Moeve. Moeve is investing a billion in the hydrogen industry and thus strengthening the progress of renewable energy in southern Europe.
The BusinessOulu department was praised for its arrangements and good contacts.
The next EHEC will be held in Madrid in two years.
