Cleantech Oulu participated at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam for the third time

People are talking to each other in a convention centre. Floor has blue carpets and there is bright lights. Behind the people you can see wall text "Finland, Hydrogen is freedom, Finnish recilience."

Cleantech Oulu participated in the Finnish stand at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam for the third time. We have seen it as important to be proactive and present in the most important hydrogen event in Europe in a long-term perspective, Key Account Director Janne Hietaniemi comments. The event has been a good platform to meet key decision-makers and also to market Oulu’s annual Nordic Hydrogen Week, the main theme of which is 2027 Nordic Hydrogen Week meets Data Centers.

In previous years, the focus has been on presenting the Oulu region as a very competitive investment environment, which has contributed to the fact that the best investment locations for hydrogen projects in the region are largely reserved and under development.

This year, the number one goal was to find hydrogen technology developers interested in the Oulu Technology Region as an R&D environment alongside investments. Especially for Chinese companies, it seems that our region has a lot to offer for their EU localization strategies. The second goal was to “target” and find players to complement our portfolio of synthetic fuels, such as ammonia and fertilizer manufacturers, who are not dependent on carbon dioxide.

The joint stand organized by Business Finland included companies such as ABB, Fingrid and Gasgrid. Within the Finnish hydrogen community, the most talked about topics were carbon dioxide and the synergies between data centers and the hydrogen economy.
