Levi, Lapland – October 2026. One of Europe’s most significant mining industry events, the Fennoscandian Exploration and Mining (FEM) conference, brought together experts, companies, and decision-makers in Levi from October 28–30, 2026. The event served as a unique platform for showcasing the latest innovations in mineral exploration, mining, and sustainable technology.
BusinessOulu and CleantechOulu participated in the event alongside four cleantech companies from Oulu: Filtrabit Oy, Feasib Oy, Nome Oy, and Prometec Tools Oy. These companies represented northern expertise in industrial digitalization, dust control, material measurement, and process optimization – all key themes from the perspective of sustainable development in the mining industry.
Companies Featured at FEM Trade Fair:
- Filtrabit presents its flow dynamics-based dust separation innovation, which improves industrial air quality and reduces carbon dioxide emissions. The solution is already in use at, for example, Outokumpu’s Tornio plant.
- Feasib Oy offers digital tools specialized in evaluating the profitability of mining investments and projects, supporting decision-making and efficient resource use.
- Nome Oy develops solutions for analyzing geological and geophysical data, enabling more accurate mineral ploration and resource mapping.
- Prometec Tools Oy is known for its automatic sampling and analysis systems used in biomass and ore quality control.
FEM Conference – An International Meeting Point
The FEM conference has been held since 1998 and has grown into one of Europe’s largest mining events. The 2025 edition attracted over 1,200 participants from 33 countries and nearly 400 organizations. The conference program includes high-level expert presentations, short courses, mine excursions, and a large exhibition area where companies showcase their products and services. The event offers excellent opportunities for networking, forming new partnerships, and following industry developments. The participation of CleantechOulu and BusinessOulu supports the internationalization and visibility of Oulu-based companies within the global mining ecosystem.
