Vol­un­teer Work Oppor­tu­ni­ties Fair: Learn, Net­work and Con­tribute to the Com­mu­ni­ty

Inter­na­tion­al House Oulu is glad to invite you to the Vol­un­teer Work Oppor­tu­ni­ties Fair, which is going to take place on April 24, Thurs­day from 16:00 to 18:00 at Tech­nop­o­lis Ydinkeskus­ta (Sepänkatu 20, Oulu).

This event is bring­ing togeth­er an array of dynam­ic orga­ni­za­tions that offer mean­ing­ful vol­un­teer oppor­tu­ni­ties.

It is designed for indi­vid­u­als inter­est­ed in con­tribut­ing to the com­mu­ni­ty, devel­op­ing new skills, and learn­ing more about how vol­un­teer­ing can serve as a valu­able step­ping stone towards inte­gra­tion, employ­ment, or per­son­al growth.

Prac­ti­cal Infor­ma­tion

The event is free of charge and open to all. Light refresh­ments, includ­ing cof­fee and snacks, will be pro­vid­ed to ensure a wel­com­ing and relaxed envi­ron­ment for net­work­ing and con­ver­sa­tion. The event will be held in Eng­lish.

A Plat­form for Mean­ing­ful Engage­ment

Vol­un­teer­ing plays a sig­nif­i­cant role in fos­ter­ing inclu­sion and strength­en­ing social cohe­sion. It offers a path­way to net­work, gain hands-on expe­ri­ence, and build a deep­er under­stand­ing of the local cul­ture and com­mu­ni­ty.

For many inter­na­tion­al res­i­dents and new­com­ers in par­tic­u­lar, vol­un­teer­ing can also be an effec­tive way to enhance lan­guage skills, expand net­works, and increase employ­a­bil­i­ty in Fin­land.

The Vol­un­teer Work Oppor­tu­ni­ties Fair offers an inter­ac­tive space where par­tic­i­pants can:

• Learn about var­i­ous vol­un­teer­ing roles avail­able in the Oulu region
• Meet direct­ly with rep­re­sen­ta­tives from sev­er­al local orga­ni­za­tions
• Gain insights into how vol­un­teer­ing con­tributes to both com­mu­ni­ty devel­op­ment and per­son­al advance­ment
• Hear real-life sto­ries and advice from expe­ri­enced vol­un­teers
• Meet like-mind­ed, dri­ven peo­ple
• Take the first step toward reg­is­ter­ing as a vol­un­teer

Par­tic­i­pat­ing Orga­ni­za­tions

• Oulu2026 – Con­tribut­ing to Oulu’s role as the Euro­pean Cap­i­tal of Cul­ture through cul­tur­al and artis­tic projects
• Start­up Refugees – Sup­port­ing refugees and immi­grants by cre­at­ing path­ways to employ­ment, entre­pre­neur­ship, and skills devel­op­ment
• Yöko­ris – Offer­ing inclu­sive sports and recre­ation­al activ­i­ties that empow­er youth and pro­mote well-being
• Finnish Red Cross – Pro­vid­ing human­i­tar­i­an assis­tance and a wide range of vol­un­teer­ing roles across Fin­land
• ODL Yhdessä – Focus­ing on com­mu­ni­ty-based well-being, social sup­port, and vol­un­teer­ing for inclu­sion
• Bloom Oulu – Advo­cat­ing for diver­si­ty, equi­ty, and inclu­sion through cre­ative and col­lab­o­ra­tive events and ini­tia­tives
• Oulu Entre­pre­neur­ship Soci­ety (OuluES) – Encour­ag­ing inno­va­tion and entre­pre­neur­ship through vol­un­teer-dri­ven ini­tia­tives
• Fura­ha Ry – Pro­vid­ing mean­ing­ful vol­un­teer­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for those pas­sion­ate about pro­mot­ing edu­ca­tion and sup­port­ing vul­ner­a­ble chil­dren.
• AIESEC Oulu – Cre­at­ing vol­un­teer­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for stu­dents to engage in cross-cul­tur­al projects fos­ter­ing lead­er­ship and per­son­al growth.

More orga­ni­za­tions may join the fair in the com­ing days, offer­ing even broad­er oppor­tu­ni­ties for involve­ment.
