In 2024 we will all get one extra day to enjoy due to the fact that it is a leap year. So why not spend it in Oulu, Finland?

After a brief hiatus, it has been announced that Polar Bear Pitching will make its highly-anticipated return on 29th February 2024! Organised by BusinessOulu, this is a much-loved and internationally acclaimed pitching competition like no other. Participants have no time limit as such to pitch their business, but there is one very unique catch: they must present their ideas from an ice hole carved in the frozen Baltic sea.

Entrepreneurs can talk for as long as they are willing to withstand being submerged in waist-deep water in sub-zero temperatures. It is a challenge of perseverance and resilience that makes for an unforgettable experience for new and emerging companies.

Polar Bear Pitching has a strong track record of giving startups, based both in Finland and from overseas, a platform to build their business profile in front of a large audience and uncover funding opportunities that can boost their growth and development as a company. Additionally, through the informal winter activities that Oulu has to offer, the event aims to create lifetime connections between participants.

“It is exciting to see Polar Bear Pitching be organised again!” said Viera Karam, Startup Program Manager, BusinessOulu. “Pitching from the ice hole does not only demonstrate perseverance and dedication of startup entrepreneurs competing, but also leaves a lasting impression on anyone watching. This is exactly what Polar Bear Pitching is about. We aim to create an unforgettable experience where participants can build lifetime connections.”

More details will be announced in the coming months, which we will also share via the ICTOulu portal and our LinkedIn channel. If you want to be kept in the loop as to when tickets go on sale, you can pre-register now to ensure that you don’t miss out!
