Research into the possibilities of 6G is being led by the University of Oulu’s 6G Flagship unit. If you want to keep up-to-date with their latest news and projects, ICTOulu would recommend reading through their 6G Waves Magazine, available online.
The publication aims to highlight the goals and latest achievements of the 6G Flagship program, offering a recap of initiatives that have been launched since its inception, giving valuable insights on where we are now and where we can be in 10 years. The most recent issue covers a comprehensive range of topics including:
- A thorough overview of the second phase of 6G Flagship, which started at the beginning of May 2022.
- What the EU’s Horizon Europe funding means for the project.
- News of advances in their co-operation with Japanese research institutions and companies.
- A report from last summer’s EuCNC & 6G Summit in Grenoble, France.
Matti Latva-aho, Director of 6G Flagship at the University of Oulu says in the foreword for the Autumn 2022 issue: “The next four years will be the most intensive in 6G research. At the time of ending the programme in mid-2026, 6G standardisation can be expected to be progressing at full speed. Until then, we will have a lot of fun investigating all possible venues making 6G possible.”
There have been five issues to date since 2020 and they can all be viewed on the 6G Waves website.
