The FiBAN Pitch Finland DefSec, a prestigious event that took place on Friday 7th June 2024, ended with a spectacular victory for Oulu-based startup Dobbelgänger Oy (a VTT spin-off). The event, themed around defence and security solutions, saw seven incredible finalists compete for first place with their innovations and cutting-edge technology.
Dobbelgänger Oy, a company that specialises in creating modern decoys for today’s needs, emerged as the winner and secured an investment of 100,000 euros. Their product, which features easy-to-set-up decoys with an authentic spectral fingerprint, impressed both the audience and the jury.
The event was organized by FiBAN, Define Finland, Digital Defense Ecosystem, Pääomasijoittajat Ry, Kyberala Ry, Tesi, VTT, Riihimäen kaupunki, and Puolustusvoimat. It was part of the EU-funded Connect2Scale program.
Competition for the prize was fierce, with other finalists including AirHUD, an augmented reality drone software (another VTT spin-off), MarshallAI, an AI-driven surveillance system, and PictM Technologies Oy. Also in the running were ReLoc, a jamming system for safer navigation by GIM Robotics (supported by NATO DIANA Accelerator, Digital Defence Ecosystem), Spectacular AI, which offers effective AI utilization of camera data, and Wayren, a decentralized ad-hoc communication platform.
