Juha Ala-Mur­su­la, MSc (Elec­tri­cal Engi­neer­ing), EMBA, Direc­tor of Eco­nom­ic Devel­op­ment, Business­Oulu, City of Oulu, Fin­land

Juha Ala-Mur­su­la is the Direc­tor of Eco­nom­ic Devel­op­ment at Business­Oulu, where he spear­heads ini­tia­tives to fos­ter a dynam­ic and inno­v­a­tive busi­ness envi­ron­ment. With a robust back­ground in wire­less busi­ness and tech­nol­o­gy devel­op­ment, Juha has held sev­er­al man­age­r­i­al posi­tions at Nokia and Nokia Siemens Net­works, con­tribut­ing sig­nif­i­cant­ly to the advance­ment of 3G, 4G, and 5G tech­nolo­gies.

In his cur­rent role, Juha plays a piv­otal role in struc­tured ecosys­tem coop­er­a­tion, sup­port­ing research-based inno­va­tions and enhanc­ing busi­ness sup­port ser­vices. He is instru­men­tal in secur­ing R&D&I fund­ing and dri­ving start ups, SME growth and new busi­ness oppor­tu­ni­ties through the Oulu Inno­va­tion Alliance. Addi­tion­al­ly, he over­sees employ­ment ser­vices and city mar­ket­ing for the Oulu region.

From 2017 to 2023, Juha served as an exec­u­tive board mem­ber of Busi­ness­Fin­land, a nation­al inno­va­tion fund­ing agency with an €800 mil­lion bud­get.

 His lead­er­ship and strate­gic vision have been cru­cial in shap­ing Oulu’s inno­va­tion land­scape.

Beyond his cur­rent respon­si­bil­i­ties, Juha holds sig­nif­i­cant board mem­ber­ships with Nordic Option Oy, a ven­ture fund, and the 6G Flag­ship Advi­sor Board at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu
