Oneline course for the structural desing of multistorey timber buildings

The design and dimensioning guidelines for wooden apartment buildings in use in Finland are incomplete, which can lead to uneconomical and even risky structures and buildings. The height of wooden apartment buildings has been constantly increasing. The frame materials of a wooden apartment building can vary and include, for example, CLT, LVL, sawn timber, steel and concrete. Increasingly taller and geometrically more complex wooden apartment buildings require a higher level of structural design expertise.
This project creates educational content and an online course for the structural design of wooden apartment buildings based on the latest research data, which previously did not exist in Finland. The project and the online course will create the necessary new expertise in North Ostrobothnia for the increasing design and implementation of wooden apartment buildings
The project is co-funded by the European Union.
