Oulu is the logis­tics hub for Nort­hern Euro­pe. Sea, land and rail trans­port meet in the port of Oulu pro­vi­ding trans­port effec­ti­ve­ly to the who­le Nort­hern Scan­di­na­via as well as Rus­sia. The lar­gest mul­ti­pur­po­se port in the Both­nian Bay ser­ves in the fas­test growing city in Nort­hern Euro­pe. All three parts of the port: Orit­ka­ri, Nuot­ta­saa­ri and Vih­reä­saa­ri are open all-year 24/7.

The digi­tal pro­ject PORT OULU Smar­ter aims at deve­lo­ping and using modern port digi­ta­liza­tion toget­her with clients and sta­ke­hol­ders. In a mul­ti-func­tio­nal envi­ron­ment, a new type of data plat­form is crea­ted, which col­lects infor­ma­tion on port acti­vi­ties and the sta­tus of the port. The digi­tal infra­struc­tu­re deve­lop­ment mea­su­res in the area will inte­gra­te the trans­port and com­mu­nica­tions ser­vices in the port area into a seam­less pac­ka­ge.
