Centre of Expertise in Building Health
This project establishes a Centre of Expertise in Building Health and a related research laboratory, combining interdisciplinary research and collaboration. The goal is to support healthy construction and sustainable development, providing support for research, education, and business in the field of construction and indoor air technology.
The project partners are the University of Oulu and the Arctic Construction Cluster. The Centre of Expertise in Building Health consists of a wide range of experts from across Finland, including the University of Oulu, the Arctic Construction Cluster, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, other partners of the Oulu Innovation Alliance, and a broad array of companies.
Through the Centre of Expertise and laboratory, healthy and sustainable construction and the safe use of existing buildings are made possible. This multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral ecosystem will serve as an international benchmark in its field, with its services utilized by researchers, students, and industry professionals worldwide.
The laboratory is intended to be operational with existing equipment by 2024, and the Centre of Expertise is expected to be fully operational by 2025. The Centre of Expertise promotes the development of the field locally, nationally, and internationally, providing a platform for sharing the latest knowledge and best practices.
Additionally, we will organize a Building Health Seminar in the fall of 2024 and biennially thereafter, supporting the development of expertise and innovation in the field.
