Cen­tre of Exper­tise in Build­ing Health

This project estab­lish­es a Cen­tre of Exper­tise in Build­ing Health and a relat­ed research lab­o­ra­to­ry, com­bin­ing inter­dis­ci­pli­nary research and col­lab­o­ra­tion. The goal is to sup­port healthy con­struc­tion and sus­tain­able devel­op­ment, pro­vid­ing sup­port for research, edu­ca­tion, and busi­ness in the field of con­struc­tion and indoor air tech­nol­o­gy.

The project part­ners are the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu and the Arc­tic Con­struc­tion Clus­ter. The Cen­tre of Exper­tise in Build­ing Health con­sists of a wide range of experts from across Fin­land, includ­ing the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu, the Arc­tic Con­struc­tion Clus­ter, Oulu Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Sci­ences, oth­er part­ners of the Oulu Inno­va­tion Alliance, and a broad array of com­pa­nies.

Through the Cen­tre of Exper­tise and lab­o­ra­to­ry, healthy and sus­tain­able con­struc­tion and the safe use of exist­ing build­ings are made pos­si­ble. This mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary and cross-sec­toral ecosys­tem will serve as an inter­na­tion­al bench­mark in its field, with its ser­vices uti­lized by researchers, stu­dents, and indus­try pro­fes­sion­als world­wide.

The lab­o­ra­to­ry is intend­ed to be oper­a­tional with exist­ing equip­ment by 2024, and the Cen­tre of Exper­tise is expect­ed to be ful­ly oper­a­tional by 2025. The Cen­tre of Exper­tise pro­motes the devel­op­ment of the field local­ly, nation­al­ly, and inter­na­tion­al­ly, pro­vid­ing a plat­form for shar­ing the lat­est knowl­edge and best prac­tices.

Addi­tion­al­ly, we will orga­nize a Build­ing Health Sem­i­nar in the fall of 2024 and bien­ni­al­ly there­after, sup­port­ing the devel­op­ment of exper­tise and inno­va­tion in the field.

• Pro­mote research and edu­ca­tion in the field of con­struc­tion and indoor air tech­nol­o­gy.
• Cre­ate new busi­ness oppor­tu­ni­ties and inno­va­tions.
• Con­nect stake­hold­ers from dif­fer­ent sec­tors and open net­works inter­na­tion­al­ly.
• Orga­nize reg­u­lar sem­i­nars and work­shops for knowl­edge shar­ing.
