What are we doing?

Advance­ment of the strate­gic goals of Oulu Inno­va­tion Alliance is large­ly based on launch­ing and sup­port­ing joint research, devel­op­ment and inno­va­tion projects, find­ing part­ners, con­nect­ing busi­ness­es and research, and pro­mot­ing ecosys­tem-based inno­va­tion activ­i­ties.

The City of Oulu sup­ports the Inno­va­tion Alliance’s goals and projects defined in the Oulu ecosys­tem agree­ment with an annu­al­ly deter­minable allowance from its devel­op­ment fund through sep­a­rate ERDF and ESF+ project appli­ca­tion process­es con­cern­ing urban devel­op­ment. Also oth­er fund­ing sources such as Busi­ness Fin­land, the Acad­e­my of Fin­land, and direct EU project fund­ing enable our activ­i­ties. Inter­est­ing fund­ing and project oppor­tu­ni­ties are com­mu­ni­cat­ed between the OIA stake­hold­ers, and syn­er­gy ben­e­fits are sought between RDI oper­a­tors and busi­ness rep­re­sen­ta­tives in Oulu.

The selec­tion of ecosys­tem ser­vices with­in the OIA entails shared sup­port ser­vices as well as ones offered by alliance stake­hold­ers. As some of our ecosys­tem ser­vices we pro­vide var­i­ous tri­al and devel­op­ment envi­ron­ments, arrange inno­va­tion events bring­ing dif­fer­ent fields and their oper­a­tives togeth­er, and open doors to nation­al and inter­na­tion­al net­works.
